Iran-US war latest: Iranian military makes new threat in Hormuz after Trump says he wants uranium ‘for public relations’

IRGC-linked media has called on the Iranian regime to impose new fees on the use of international submarine cables running through the Strait of Hormuz.

The move would secure Iran’s control over the waterway and could generate billions of dollars, while giving Tehran fresh leverage over the West, Tasnim news agency said.

Transit fees would be charged to the international groups which own and operate the cables, that include Google, Meta, Microsoft and Amazon.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump said he wants to seize Iran’s hidden stockpile of enriched uranium for public relations purposes.

"I don't think it's necessary except from a public relations standpoint," Trump told Fox News’ “Hannity” programme.

"I just feel better if I got it, actually. But it's, I think, it's more for public relations than it is for anything else."

The US president is departing beijing today following several meetings with Chinese president Xi Jinping, in which he claimed they agreed Iran must not have a nuclear weapon.
